Join us on a virtual tour across the Lake District World Heritage Site!

20 July 2017

Step inside BirdHIVE to swoop across herding sheep on the fells, explore popular Lake District attractions, skim across the water at Coniston and soar like a bird across the spectacular landscape that is now recognised as a place of international importance - all in just a three-minute trip.

Following on from last year’s success with BirdHIVE across a number of festivals including Lakes Alive, the Lake District National Park developed further virtual reality experiences to show festival goers just why this place is special.

Utilising 360 video and sophisticated drone technologies, the digital team has developed a truly immersive experience that can be enjoyed using just a smart phone and a VR headset.

Lake District National Park Digital Content Editor, Gerry Gregoire, said:

BirdHIVE allows everyone to experience what makes the Lake District such a special place and worthy of UNESCO World Heritage Site status. Whilst experiencing BirdHIVE, you really do become immersed in the inspirational scenery around you. The ability to look around in a 360 degree motion adds a layer of interaction that users simply love.

The new BirdHIVE experience will be first featured at Kendal Calling (28-30 July 17) in the Lost Eden area.

Where can you take a flight in the BirdHIVE?

You can experience BirdHIVE at these up and coming events:

Kendal Calling, Lowther Deer Park: 28-30 July 17

Lakes Alive, Kendal: 8-10 September 17

Westmorland County Show, Crooklands: 14 September 17

Kendal Mountain Festival: 17-19 November 17
